    We're experiencing high latency to some destinations in Asia and Australia.

    This issue has been escalated to the cable provider for further investigation.

    Current Observations:

    Johannesburg to Asia: Latency has increased to 175ms (normal baseline: ~116ms)

    Cape Town to Asia: Latency has risen to 260ms (normal baseline: ~135ms)


    We will share any significant updates as soon as they become available.

    Maintenance Description
    The supplier’s maintenance team will be performing a cutover on the NLD5 section between George and Knysna and relocating the cables away from an active construction site. This route has been damaged twice, and the current temporary joints are above ground and exposed to vandalism.

    Impact Description
    No impact to client services is expected, as traffic will fail over to redundant paths.

    Overview : Voice engineers will be performing upgrades on the secondary set of Provider Edge Routers.


    Impact : Intermittent drops of the VOIP Service can be expected, but all care will be taken to filter traffic 15 minutes prior to starting maintenance on a router to automatically re-route traffic to alternative paths.


    Risk : Medium

    Expected Downtime : 1-2 minutes.

Increased NLD latency between Johannesburg and Durban

    Good day

    The fibre break between Pietermaritzburg and Cato Ridge has been repaired and latency between Johannesburg and Durban has returned to normal. The fibre was cut by the Department of Water working in the area.

    The increased latency between Johannesburg and Durban is due to a fibre break on our provider's network between Pietermaitzburg and Cato Ridge. The fibre service provider currently has a team on-site that has started arranging spare fibre cabling and has now commenced repairs on the damaged fibre cables.

    Maintenance Description:

    LD8 (London) - Cogent (AS174) will be impacted. The purpose of this work is to apply and activate software module upgrades on code running on the edge routers per the manufacturer's recommendations.

    During this maintenance window, you may experience up to two interruptions on the LD8 (London) - Cogent (AS174) service while the provider completes the maintenance activities. However, due to the complexity of the work, your downtime may be longer. Customers may also see some re-convergence during the maintenance window. Throughout the window, users might occasionally notice a slight increase in latency.

    Our network operations engineers closely monitor the work and will do everything possible to minimize any inconvenience to you.     Good Evening

    Latency between Johannesburg and Cape Town is back to normal.

    The latency increase was as a result of a dual failure on our paths. The first on NLD3 between Richmond and Colesburg. The second on NLD6 between Mount Frere and Kokstand resulting in pressure on the remaining paths towards Cape Town.

    The latency increase was due to one of the segments in the provider's network being taken offline for emergency maintenance. Traffic was re-routed over a longer path. All work has been completed and latency to Asia and down under is back to normal.

    Dear Valued Customer,

    We would like to inform you of an Emergency Change that must be carried out on 22 November 2025. Please note that this activity is unavoidable due to an unexpected equipment failure requiring immediate attention.


    Change Details

    • Scheduled Date: 22 November 2025

    • Change Window: 09:00am – 11:00am

    • Description: Urgent replacement of the Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS)

    • Estimated Downtime per Client: Approximately 2 hours

    Reason for Emergency Change
    The ATS has failed, resulting in the switchover from backup power to Eskom having to be done manually. To prevent further risk to service stability and ensure power redundancy, urgent replacement is required.


    Implementation Plan

    1. Switch off Eskom power

    2. Replace the faulty ATS

    3. Restore Eskom power

    Service Impact

    • Connections to and from the NOC may experience delays during the change window.

    Rollback Plan

    • No backout plan is available due to the nature of the hardware replacement.

    Test Plan

    • Confirm power restoration

    • Verify correct operation of the new ATS
